Compassion
Raising Money to Support Others
Mrs Rusling suggested that, to help show compassion to others, our school should help raise money for Ukraine so we organised a second-hand book sale. We came up with the idea of donating books that we had already read when we were in the library. It took a lot of time to plan and collect the books but we wanted to make it a brilliant sale. Lots of our friends and even some teaching assistants gave us some books to sell. We were surprised at how popular it was. We raised over £300 which we were very pleased with.
Thank you to everyone who bought a book and also to the people who just generously donated money to this good cause. We are hoping to run another book sale soon.
We hope you are all enjoying your new books!

Our BPSP Buddy Bench
BPSP has a Buddy Bench in our school for children that don’t have anyone to play with. It is brightly coloured to show that it is fun, exciting and easy for children to notice. Anyone who offers to play with another child, who is sitting on the Buddy Bench, is displaying some of our core values- Compassion, Friendship and Respect. The Buddy Bench can help to create new friendships and make this school a friendlier and happier place. If you have any problems or don’t have anyone to play with then visit the Buddy Bench or come and find an Anti-Bullying Ambassador who will help you.

Caring About Our Wellbeing
Mrs Inns says…
AT BPSP, we are whole-heartedly invested in caring for the wellbeing of the whole school community: children, staff and families alike. We already have many different strategies in place to support those who are struggling to maintain positive mental health and we are continuing to develop these for all.
At the very heart of a healthy state of wellbeing is Compassion and this is encouraged as an embedded part of everyday life at Baden Powell: showing kindness and understanding to both ourselves and others is key. In addition, our other values of Friendship, Respect and Resilience also entwined when making us mentally strong to deal with whatever life has in store.
Compassion is support and a listening ear at BPSP…
Our Pastoral Team Lead, Mrs Johnstone says:
Modelling and displaying compassion and kindness are integral to every interaction we have with children and encouragement and support is given to assist children to also display these values in their behaviour across the school.
We support children in a range of ways:
- Bereavement
- Family break ups
- Young Carers
- Managing Anxiety
- Looked after and previously looked after children
- Anger management
- Friendship skills
- Transition work
- Support for children going through various difficult situations
We are lucky to have a warm, inviting and safe space to talk, be listened to and be supported here in school.
